PAWS OF LOVE

SAVING 1 DOG WON'T CHANGE THE WORLD, BUT SURELY FOR THAT 1 DOG, THE WORLD WILL CHANGE FOREVER.

ABOUT
Paws of Love is a not-profit organisation that endeavours to relieve the dire situations in which animals are found in Brits and surrounding areas.  However, we reach out to the whole community as well, pertaining to the needs of their pet’s welfare and education regarding sterilization etc.  We try to educate all communities in understanding what human and animal cruelty is and what the impact of it is on our daily lives - now and in the future. Where there is need we make an effort to assist with our feeding project. Thus far, we have relied solely on donations by way of funds and food.    In many cases, personal funds have been applied for various causes. We focus primarily on the plight of dogs although we assist cats should the need arise but these are directed to the society that are better suited to be of assistance to them.

MARKETING

We make use of facebook page as well as Tiktok and Instagram to ask for donations and to show the community what we do.

REHOMING

Persons who wish to adopt a dog are very carefully monitored. Initial home checks are done to ensure that the new owners will be able to look after the adopted pet. Regular home checks are done for a period of six months to ensure the safety of the dog and also to see if the owners are adapting to the new addition to the family. We are not only concerned with the adopted dog but also the wellbeing of the owner. New owners have to sign a rehoming contract which prohibits them from giving the dog away in the event that they find the dog not suited to their needs. The dog then has to be returned to our shelter where behavioural problems, if any, are dealt with.

VETERINARIAN HELP

As we rely on donations, to meet the needs of dogs that are in need of medical assistance, where we are able to, these accounts are paid out of funds that have been donated to us. Otherwise, personal funds are contributed where we are able. These costs entail, deworming, getting rid of fleas and ticks. In addition, dogs who are ill from tick bite fever, distemper, parvo virus etc, prolapses of various kinds, serious malnutrition, skin diseases and more, receive treatment and medication which can be costly. Dogs that have been abused or stray dogs that have been run over or have been involved in fighting and have sustained serious injuries, need medical care, which we endeavour to provide. Several times, rescued dogs have suffered such serious malnutrition that veterinary expertise is needed to save the animal.

DONATIONS - FOOD

Where there is need we make an effort to assist with our feeding project. Thus far, we have relied solely on donations by way of funds and food. In many cases, personal funds have been applied for various causes.

STERILIZATIONS

As far as is possible, we educate and encourage people in the community to have their dogs and their cats sterilized to prevent unnecessary litters and in so doing, alleviate the pressure of having to deal with unwanted dogs and cats.

DOG KENNEL PROJECT

Our latest project by way of donations, is the collection of dog kennels. People who do not need their kennels anymore donate these items that we distribute between the animals that need shelter, especially in the approaching winter.

RESCUE DOGS ARE NOT BROKEN DOGS
There is often a misconception that all rescue dogs are going to be damaged in some way, but that’s simply not true. There are plenty of wonderful dogs at PAWS OF LOVE, who through no fault of their own have found themselves homeless and are just hoping for a second chance at a new life in a loving home. .DON'T WAIT ANY LONGER
